Oakville at its Savviest
They say you can’t find a steal in Oakville, and on most days it’s true. Here, in the center of the center cut—Napa’s crown jewel—the Cabernet prices are outmatched only by the extraordinary richness in the bottle. On most days, finding an “intensely satisfying” Oakville designate under $100 would be impossible. Today is an exception.
The 2018 Grand Napa Vineyards Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is a knockout that delivers all the dark-fruited opulence and graphite-etched class Oakville is famous for. Normally, you’d have to shell out $135 for its inky brilliance, but we secured it for a fraction of the cost. This is a rare Oakville opportunity from a newly crowned member-favorite estate. Lock up as much as you possibly can.
Since our first offering from Grand Napa Vineyards back in May of 2019, the Rutherford estate has quickly risen to one of the most revered and in-demand in our portfolio. One member called its Cabernet, “Delicious and one of the best Wine Access wines I have had,” while another wrote, “So impressed that I find myself needing a special occasion to drink it because I don’t want to run out.”
Now, after multiple sellouts and countless five-star reviews, we managed to convince winemaker Dwight Bonewell to take the brakes off and give us his best deal yet, plus access to the top tier of his cellar. Enter the 2018 Oakville Cab at our special price.
As Jeb Dunnuck wrote, this is a “beauty,” with “a great nose of spice, red and black currants, tobacco leaf, and cedary herbs. Full-bodied and nicely textured, with a great mid-palate.” It perfectly encapsulates a vintage that Decanter called one of the “finest of the past two decades,” and Wine Spectator called “near picture perfect.” This translates that long, temperate growing season into an incredibly deep-fruited and well-built Cabernet, a Napa Valley star.
Dunnuck was quick to note the instant approachability and ageworthiness of the 2018, stating, this “can be drunk today or cellared for 15-20 years.”
This degree of depth, pedigree, and longevity is exactly why Oakville Cabernets cost so much, and why, on any other day, this would carry a $135 price tag. Collectors and savvy buyers, this one’s for you.
