A Steal from Napa’s “Dream” Vintage

There’s one thing that Grand Napa Vineyards does exceedingly well: make powerful, luscious Napa Valley reds. They do it so well that they’ve become a MASSIVE fan favorite at Wine Access: Hundreds repeat orders and hundreds of four- and five-star reviews tell the tale.

The 2018 Grand Napa Vineyards Master Red is exactly what made Grand Napa such a star. Crafted by the gifted winemaker Stéphane Vivier, it’s one of the single best bargains we’ve seen from the 99-point 2018 Napa Valley vintage.

As you probably know, 2018 was a special vintage in Napa. Wine Spectator, which awarded it 99 points, doesn’t think there’s ever been a better one. This was especially true in Grand Napa’s home base of Rutherford—the home of legendary vineyards such as Grgich Hills, Staglin, and Beaulieu Vineyard—as well as the spectacular sources that owner Dwight Bonewell has cultivated in Napa Valley’s greatest AVAs.

Bonewell sources the fruit for the Master Red from the Rutherford estate’s top sources throughout Napa Valley, including St. Helena, Oak Knoll, and the rapidly rising Coombsville AVA. This is a Bordeaux style cuvée: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec, and 20% Merlot. The glory of the 2018 vintage and the terroir of Napa Valley’s marquee appellations shine through in every sip.

This wine is drinking beautifully now, but has a sturdy backbone of tannins that will reward a long slumber in the cellar. We recommend you pop bottles regularly and enjoy the evolution.
