    Our Top-Rated Red Blend

Over 3850 near-perfect ratings aren’t something we see often—save for Matt Cline’s iconic old-vine bottlings. A member favorite for 10 years running, the Old Vines Field Blend has drawn raves:

“This is a great bottle of wine!”

“The biggest bang for the buck on the wine list.”

“For the price, this is the best wine I have ever enjoyed. Actually, it is one of the better wines I have had at any price.”

The 2018, which hails from a fantastic vintage, may outshine them all. Deep ruby to the rim, it bursts with high-toned aromas of boysenberry, raspberry, and exotic spices. Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, and Alicante Bouschet from heritage vineyards planted by first-generation Italians make this a truly opulent wine that proudly struts its century-old-vine pedigree.

Between the high-rises and strip malls of Contra Costa County, Cline has worked tirelessly to maintain vineyards that offer a window into days gone by. Huge, gnarled vines the size of small trees are planted helter-skelter in the traditional “field blend” style pioneered by early farmers across Europe. Each one still ekes out a few clusters every year, the tiny berries packed with dense, red-fruit concentration.

Today, Cline’s Three Wine Co. Old Vines Field Blend is a lush, transportive taste of the past, bursting with ripe fruit and exotic, spice-driven complexity. It’s one of the last of its kind in California.
