One of Sonoma’s Fastest-Rising Stars

Katy Wilson is one of Sonoma’s insider-star winemakers for quite some time now—and the rest of the world is finally starting to catch up.

She’s the former assistant winemaker at Flowers, and then was the day-to-day chief at Kamen, where she helped craft a Parker 99-pointer.

Since then, Katy’s been featured in Forbes, who praised her “stunning, polished wines;” Sonoma Magazine; and Wine Enthusiast, who mentioned her Chardonnays as being among “the world’s best bottles.”

When a Pinot Noir bears a Sonoma Coast label, it can come from a wide range of vineyards—but few Sonoma Coast bottlings boast the pedigree of Anaba’s bottling, which is why so few truly merit a $50+ price-tag.

Anaba builds this bottle on a foundation of O'Connor, Jay Morris, Las Brisas, and Wildcat Mountain vineyards—sites that can command north of $75 on their own as single-vineyard bottles, and bring impressive complexity and nuance to the glass. In 2019, Katy Wilson had a spectacular vintage to work with—Wine Spectator called it a “benchmark vintage” for California Pinot Noir.

This wine was given a single-vineyard treatment in the cellar, with 20 months of barrel aging in 30% new French oak, so it delivers an exceptional experience. Pouring a glass, now over four years after harvest, the wine is really coming into its own. The nose is seductive—black cherries and raspberries mingle with cranberries and hints of orange zest, thyme, and floral tones. The palate is polished and rich, with beautiful fruit balanced by just enough savoriness and brightness to balance everything to a “T.”
