A Giant No-Brainer of an Offer

Ever since we first tried it, we haven’t been able to stop talking about the Légende de Bonpas Blanc. A 90-point, bright, lively white with a stone-fruit personality, it’s “a screaming value,” according to Jeb Dunnuck, who took the words right out of our mouths.

This is one of the biggest no-brainers of the year—Bonpas has earned Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Best Buy honors, and the 2019 is the best ever vintage of this wine, with an expressive nose and a stellar balance between luscious fruit and refreshing vibrancy.

Beautifully aromatic, the wine bursts with scents of white peach, sage, and fresh lemon. There’s enough lushness on the palate to make it delicious on its own, but the brightness on the finish and saline acidity really pop, enticing one sip after another.

The 2019 is a modern take on a classic Provençal white blend—the kind of lively wine that we dream about sipping next to azure blue water in Cassis, with a bowl of bouillabaisse at our table.  Grenache Blanc and Vermentino provide rich fruit, and they’re aged on their lees for a bit of extra body, while Clairette and Ugni Blanc are the source of the wine’s fantastic brightness and minerality.

Those grapes are uniquely suited to Bonpas’ rocky soils, deposited by ancient floods, that have more than a little in common with Châteauneuf-du-Pape. All of them love the region’s hot summers, and the vineyards benefit from the surrounding Parc Régional du Luberon, which ensures a healthy ecosystem for the vines to thrive. Don’t look for oak here, though—this tank-aged beauty is all about pretty, fresh fruit flavors.

The Luberon is one of the most exciting sources of value in France. Despite being wedged between the Rhône and Provence, it’s still not on the radar of most wine lovers. The quality in the region has boomed over the last two decades, and top estates like Bonpas produce exceptional wines—but without the fame of their well-traveled neighbors, prices are much lower.

That all adds up to a wine that’s worth waiting for... and worth stocking up on. A case of samples has vanished from the office dangerously fast—because this dazzling wine is an ideal pairing with any casual evening. We could say more, but this wine is going to disappear as fast from our warehouse as it will from your cellar.
