    “Legendary” Doesn’t Do It Justice

Hailing from a vintage that will go down as one of the greatest ever in Napa Valley, the 2019 Collina shows why Dalla Valle is one of Napa Valley’s legendary wineries. It’s an irresistible pour, with ripe and complex aromas of black and red currant, graphite, mint, and dark chocolate, preceding a dense, velvety, and seamless palate. The wine is still quite youthful, but its elegant tannins will enable it to gain complexity over the coming decade and beyond.

We’re thrilled that our friendship with Naoko and Maya Dalla Valle allowed us to bring it to you—especially since their yields were down about 40% in 2019.

Dalla Valle crafts some of the most coveted wines in the country. Aside from a handful of top restaurants such as PRESS in St. Helena, almost all of Dalla Valle’s new releases are claimed by members of its mailing list.

From a winery famed for priceless bottles, Collina is one of Dalla Valle’s most accessible superstars. The name translates to “hill” in Italian, and it’s been given to this incredibly delicious red because the majority of the fruit comes from the younger vines of Dalla Valle’s legendary hillside blocks.

In the 2019, Napa winemaking legend Andy Erickson and internationally renowned consulting enologist Michel Rolland blended 50% Cabernet Franc, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot to create a wine that strikes an elusive balance: It’s phenomenal right now, but also capable of aging for a decade-plus, developing with Dalla Valle’s characteristic grace and complexity.

This is a gorgeous bottle from one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated wineries.
