Pure Napa Valley Gold

Luc Morlet, the talent behind Morlet Family Vineyards, is undoubtedly one of the great Cabernet craftsmen in Napa Valley.

As winemaker for Peter Michael Winery and his own Morlet Family Vineyards, he has earned twenty 100-point scores—needless to say, this puts him in a position to pick who he works with. We are incredibly honored that he chose Wine Access to be his first partner, and we’re thrilled to bring his two gorgeous 2019 Cabernets to you.

The 2019 vintage was an all-time great in Napa Valley, and these two Grande Sonnerie Cabernets—both from stellar sites, both products of rigorous berry-per-berry selection, both made in truly minuscule quantities—express the beauty of the season and Morlet’s unmatched talent.

The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet was grown on volcanic ash-rich hillsides in northern St. Helena and deep, alluvial gravel-loam in Oakville. The single-vineyard 2019 Oakville Cabernet hails from that same prized Oakville site. Both of these wines are vanishingly rare: barely 100 cases of each ever existed.

During his youth in Champagne, Luc’s grandfather once told him that “We are the people who must turn a tin can into a gold watch.” That has set the tone for his career. Crafting world-class wines did not come easy. Intense, sustained hard work and financial sacrifice went into his success today, culminating in his passion project and home estate, Morlet Family Vineyards.

What is Grande Sonnerie? In mechanical clocks and luxury watches, it’s a complicated movement and striking system. Its other meaning is aspirational: Because it’s such a complex mechanical feat, only the greatest watchmakers in the world have mastered it with precision and elegance. That’s why it’s such a perfect name for these wines.
