    An American Grand Cru

Shea Wine Cellars, nestled in the northern end of the Yamhill-Carlton District in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, is the culmination of the life’s work of Dick Shea, a former Wall Street trader who planted his eponymous vineyard in 1989.

What sets this winery apart is the meticulous cultivation of the vineyard itself. Dick Shea and his team are masters of the viticultural craft, farming 140 acres of what is one of the Willamette Valley's universally acknowledged Grand Cru vineyards.

The 2019 Shea Wine Cellars Estate Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard Willamette Valley is a shining example of their dedication to excellence. The winery employs a careful blend of traditional and innovative techniques to ensure the highest quality. A portion of the grapes for this wine were fermented with whole clusters, adding spicy complexity and structure to the wine. The wine is then aged in a mix of new and used French oak barrels, imparting subtle notes of spice and vanilla.

The richness and delicacy of the 2019 Estate Pinot is a perfect foil for fine food, which is why Shea's Two Blocks-Willamette Pinot Noir Auction' Pinot Noir 2019 is on MICHELIN two-starred Birdsong's wine list—the perfect pairing for their savory squab pithivier. It bounds from the glass with notes of raspberry liqueur, cranberry jam, red cherry, and subtle sarsaparilla. Stem inclusion no doubt contributes a spicy note. Round and juicy on the palate, it delivers cranberry fruit, violet pastilles, and faint baking spices on the palate. It’s a Pinot Noir tour de force.
