The Go-To Village for White-Burg Bargain Hunters

The Hill of Corton, located in the north of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, produces some of the greatest Chardonnays in the world—and they’re priced accordingly, regularly fetching $150–$400+.

But hiding at the foot of the hill is Ladoix, one of the hidden gems of the Chardonnay world. The town produces some of the most overdelivering, mineral-laden white wines in Burgundy. The catch is that they’re very scarce stateside—and they’re even harder to source in top-quality, low-quantity vintages like 2020.

That’s why we’re thrilled to offer the 2020 Domaine Chevalier Père & Fils Ladoix Blanc. It’s the kind of bottle that earned Ladoix its reputation as one of Burgundy’s most overachieving appellations, thanks to the efforts of winemaker Chloé Chevalier. Burgundy authority Jasper Morris MW says she “brought a touch of refinement to a range of wines which were already impressive.”

The Chevalier family is firmly ensconced in some of Burgundy’s most sacred spots. A family-run domaine inherited just after WWI, they have become increasingly specialized over the century, moving from selling their grapes to making their own wines. Finally, in 1994, they started bottling estate wines exclusively. Jasper Morris MW showed admiration for the domaine, writing, “The whites are a strength at Domaine Chevalier.”

Decanter’s Charles Curtis MW said, “The unique conditions…of 2020 mean it is an exceptional Burgundy vintage,” and rated it a rare 4.5-out-of-5 stars, and the 2020 Ladoix is a bottle that expresses the luxury of the northern Côte de Beaune without the triple-digit price.
