One of America’s Greatest Cabernets

Quilceda Creek is THE Collectible Cabernet from Washington State: It’s received SEVEN perfect scores from the Wine Advocate alone (and 19 across all major critics) and three Wine Spectator Top Tens to show for its track record of impeccable quality.

We've taken Quilceda Creek to dinners where it stood shoulder-to-shoulder with—and often eclipsed—some of the greatest bottles from Napa and Bordeaux. Simply put, if you want to count yourself among those whose palates are acquainted with the best wines made on American soil, Quilceda Creek’s Cabernet Sauvignon is a cellar essential.

Quilceda Creek founder Alex Golitzin was tutored by Napa legend André Tchelistcheff…who happened to be his uncle. It was Tchelistcheff who counseled him to focus on one grape. Golitzin took the advice to heart, seeking single-minded perfection and becoming what the Wine Advocate has called “Washington’s benchmark for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon.”

His son Paul, rightly regarded as a superstar vintner in his own right, has taken over winemaking duties for a number of years now—and the results speak for themselves. Our personal collection of Quilceda Creek stretches back into the late 1990s, and the 2020 is one of the most promising we’ve tasted yet from the estate, showing a harmonious texture that earlier, stiffer vintages required several years of cellaring to attain.

Washington State was one of the star regions of 2020: Nine of Wine Advocate’s 12 top-scoring American Cabernets came from the area. 90% of this wine came from the legendary Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills—one of the oldest and most famous vineyards in the state. The result is a collector’s bottle that stands among the best in the world.
