    Region-Defining + Tuesday-Night Excellence

This is Pinot Grigio as it’s rarely bottled.

Then again, Tiefenbrunner is a rare winery—one that produces both region-defining bottles and ones that you can pop on a Tuesday night without a second thought. And they make sure that both kinds are impeccably crafted.

Vinous has praised Tiefenbrunner’s wines as “wickedly delicious yet deceivingly refined,” and while we encourage you to pounce on their pricy “Vigna AU” Chardonnay if you ever see it—the real hero of their lineup is this Pinot Grigio. It delivers the quality we expect from the storied winery at a price that’s a far cry from its illustrious sibling.

This Pinot Grigio hails from prized vineyards in the the Südtyroler Weinstrasse, the Wine Route of South Tyrol, where steep cliffs of limestone rise up above green meadows and the Adriatic influence mingles with cold breezes coming off of the Dolomite mountains. The conditions create the perfect dialectic of gorgeous fruit and crisp acidity.

This is arguably the greatest area in the world to grow Pinot Grigio, and the Tiefenbrunner family have been crafting some of the finest wines of the region since the estate’s founding in 1848.

Tiefenbrunner combines their estate vineyards with a network of conscientiously farmed sites that meet the family’s exacting standards. Once the grapes are harvested and carefully pressed, the juice slowly ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural delicacy of the aromas and flavors. The wine finishes aging in concrete tanks, which gives it just enough richness to balance its natural brightness.

The result: an affordable bottle that holds to a high-end standard of purity and deliciousness.
