“This wine is grown to be a world-class rosé, and that is exactly what it is,” said our Master Sommelier, Sur Lucero. There’s no better way to describe the 2021 Château Miraval. A serious Provence benchmark that goes way beyond spring and summer sipping, it’s the perfect wine to have on hand to complement a range of dishes.

This is pure brilliance from winemaker Marc Perrin, who is famous for making iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape—including 100-point bottles—at Château de Beaucastel. It isn’t just the former “Brangelina” connection that made this wine so popular: Miraval is Perrin’s ambitious effort to make one of the greatest rosés in the world, period.

Château Miraval has enjoyed a level of praise that’s rare for rosé. It was one of the first rosés to crack Wine Spectator’s Top 100. It was also selected by Wine Enthusiast as one of three—out of nearly 1000—top Provence rosés, standing with ones from Château d’Esclans and Château Gassier.

Planted in terraced plots at around 1150 feet of elevation, Miraval’s blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Rolle has a prodigious mineral element that evokes the estate’s clay, chalk, and limestone soils. Constant vine-cleansing breezes and a large diurnal temperature swing help to keep the grapes’ acid bright and lively.

Drawn primarily from the château’s best parcels, the grapes undergo two rigorous sortings before being vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. The result is a crisp, mouthwateringly fresh rosé—and it’s a steal for such a stellar exemplar of Provençal style.
