This is Russian River’s Elite

DuMOL’s Wester Reach is “worth every penny,” in the enthusiastic words of one of our members. The last vintage we offered, which came over three years ago, earned a staggering 4.54 stars from our members—and the 2021 is even more delicious.

This bottle earned 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, plus another 95-point accolade from James Suckling—a combination that puts it with the best in the business. A supple, rich, and perfectly balanced wine, it’s the platonic ideal of Russian River Pinot Noir.

Since their founding in 1996, DuMOL has risen to the very top of the Russian River Valley hierarchy on the strength of their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet. And while DuMOL’s versatility has impressed both critics and wine lovers, their Burgundy varieties have made the biggest waves. No surprise, considering that longtime winemaker Andy Smith, in addition to working with 100-point legend Paul Hobbs, became a seasoned veteran of Russian River under Pinot Noir master Ted Lemon of Littorai.

Wester Reach shows the coastal character of Russian River Valley through four of DuMOL’s top sites: the coastal DuMOL Estate Vineyard, whose shallow soils just ten miles from the Pacific provide great intensity and freshness; the steep Upp Road Vineyard, which supplies much of the pure black- and red-fruit that underpins the bottling; Flax Estate, whose hillside volcanic soils and proximity to the river itself provide structure and volume; and the Occidental Road Vineyard, whose rich clay soils supply Pinot Noir of depth and density.

This is the kind of elegant, rich Pinot that made the Russian River famous. We know you’ll love it too—if you’re lucky enough to get some.
