    Rare Red from Burgundy Legends

Nothing quickens the pulses of Burgundy collectors quite like Coche-Dury.

Coche-Dury is one of the most mythic names in wine, and their Burgundies are as epic as they are scarce. For most wine lovers, even a single bottle from Coche-Dury would count as the highlight of their collection.

Now led by Raphaël Coche, who learned from his exacting and modest father Jean-François, Domaine Coche-Dury meticulously priceless old-vine parcels in the Côte d’Or. The Coches are reluctant wine-world celebrities: humble vine-tenders who just happen to make some of the most precious wines in existence.

And while they’re best known for their white wines, real connoisseurs know that their reds rival anything coming out of Burgundy. We especially love their Bourgogne, which is humble in name only—this comes from vines that go back to the 70s and whose élevage of over 18 months in barrel reflects the Coche’s commitment to quality above all else. They own less than two acres of vines for their Bourgogne, though, making this as rare as it is profound.

2022 was a standout vintage across Burgundy, and especially chez Coche. The Wine Advocate declared “Raphaël Coche has turned out another terrific set of wines in 2022, exhibiting superb depth and structure united with a rare sense of ease and effortlessness.”

This Bourgogne seems to combine attributes across the Côte de Beaune: reds from Meursault are known for soft textures and delightful earthiness on top of their fruit, while Volnay contributes a red fruit and floral tones, with distinct crushed-raspberry, red currants, and wildflower aromas that are seductive enough to smell for hours.
