    Pierre-Vincent’s Talent Is Limitless

Pierre-Vincent Girardin might be the hottest producer in all of Burgundy. Less than a half-decade into his solo career, he’s achieved the kind of critical acclaim and collectibility that most winemakers would kill for as the pinnacle of their achievements.

He has built his fame on Puligny and Meursault: Absolutely electric White Burgundies that pack more flavor into their lush, vibrant frames than seems possible—with complexity and ageworthiness that challenges the elites of the region.

Unlike Roulot, Bernard-Bonin, or Arnaud Ente—winemakers to whom Pierre-Vincent is compared—Girardin’s Meursault Clos du Cromin has yet to hit the $400+ prices that lieu-dit bottlings from those peers command.

Pierre-Vincent grew up in his dad’s cellar, making wines on his own by the time he turned 15 (they were sold to his dad’s negociant business). He released his first namesake bottles by his 21st birthday. From the beginning, they made waves in Burgundy’s staid society, both for their quality and for the impressive terroirs that Pierre-Vincent tapped with his debut vintage.

“Few emerging Côte de Beaune winemakers are making more of a stir than 21-year-old Pierre Vincent Girardin,” wrote Wine Advocate Burgundy denizen William Kelley. “There's plenty with which to be impressed.” That was five years ago, and the buzz has only intensified since then.

Pierre-Vincent is fanatical about detail. He even commissioned custom 456-liter barrels from legendary cooper François Frères, to minimize new oak flavors compared to those imparted by standard 228-liter barriques. So when he gets his hands on a terroir as special as Clos du Cromin, a walled-off clos in the heart of Meurault’s Le Cromin lieu-dit, the result is pure magic.
