    Historic Producer, Historic Value

Willamette Valley Vineyards is an Oregon icon, a historic producer that’s a go-to for PNW locals from Bandon to Bellingham.

Very few wineries in the Willamette Valley make Pinot Noir that’s consistently as good and as affordable as WVV’s widely available entry-level wine. But real Pinot-heads know that there’s a massive jump in quality from that bottling to their Estate Pinot Noir. That’s why we’re thrilled to share the 2023 Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate, from one of the best vintages in recent memory in Oregon.

Willamette Valley Vineyards is the scrappy startup that grew up to become Oregon Pinot Noir royalty. When Jim Bernau planted his first vines in 1983, the Willamette Valley was still barely on the radar of American wine lovers—people knew California, maybe a bit about Washington, but Oregon?

Bernau had a vision, and he believed Oregon could craft Pinot Noir to rival Burgundy. He was right, and now Willamette Valley Vineyards stands as a cornerstone producer in Oregon's Pinot landscape.

Jim understood that Oregon's cool climate and diverse soils could produce something special, but he also knew that one vineyard site wouldn't tell the whole story. So he built a collection of vineyard properties across the Willamette Valley's best appellations—Dundee Hills, Eola-Amity Hills, and beyond. Each site brings something different to the table, from volcanic red dirt that makes wines with backbone to ancient seafloor soils that add complexity and minerality.

Their 2023 Estate Pinot Noir combines a selection of their stunning sites into a selection that’s beautifully vibrant and just rich enough. The 2023 vintage is already gaining attention as one of the best in recent memory—and this bottle is a great find.
