The Heights of the Médoc

We’ve been proud to feature many priceless collectibles—but rarely have we sent an offer that constitutes a collection in itself.

That’s what we have today in this incredibly rare vertical, which comes straight from the cellars at Château Margaux, an estate that inspires more reverence than perhaps any other on the planet. Thomas Jefferson himself roundly praised Château Margaux. It was the first Claret sold at Christie’s (over 250 years ago), and these six library masterpieces prove that the First Growth estate’s pursuit of perfection continues.

This is your shot at six of their iconic bottles—all well-aged gems from excellent vintages, delivered to your door with pristine individual wood cases. Opportunities to acquire impeccably cellared First Growths with perfect provenance don’t come along often, and we expect our most ardent collectors to take advantage of this one.

The Collection

1996 Château Margaux (100 points—Wine Advocate)

Wine Advocate’s Neal Martin, who tasted the wine in 2016, believes that two decades have pushed this edition to perfection. “It was outstanding in its youth,” he said. “Something that has not changed one bit over the intervening two decades.”

2000 Château Margaux (100 points—Robert Parker)

When Robert Parker first tasted the 2000 Château Margaux out of the bottle, he declared it to be a 100-pointer, calling it a “tour de force in winemaking.” Nearly a decade on, his perfect score stood.

2003 Château Margaux (98 points—Robert Parker)

Now two decades after the hot 2003 vintage, this bottle is showing beautifully. The last time he tasted it, Robert Parker raised his glass to the estate: “a beautiful, dark plum/purple-tinged effort with sensational aromatics,” he called it. ”Kudos to Chateau Margaux.”

2005 Château Margaux (100 points—James Suckling)

James Suckling called this “utterly captivating” in his 100-point review. Antonio Galloni of Vinous lauded it as “nothing less than magnificent” and “easily one of the wines of the vintage.”

2009 Château Margaux (99 points—Robert Parker)

This is a wine of “spellbinding” aromas, according to James Suckling. In her 100-point review, Decanter’s Jane Anson declared it “up with the best ever from this estate.”

2010 Château Margaux (100 points—James Suckling)

The 2010 Château Margaux is a towering achievement that will endure effortlessly for years to come. James Suckling called it “so beautiful” in his 100-point review.
