Big Vintages, BIGGER Bottles

Today, there’s no need to mince words. The 2012 and 2013 Anderson’s Conn Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserves are bona fide winners. Each a knockout in its own right, there may be no better pair to reflect the back-to-back home runs that were 2012 and 2013 in Napa Valley — ESPECIALLY in magnum.

Antonio Galloni dropped 93-95 points on the 2012 Estate Reserve, hailing its “expressive dark red fruit,” “notable silkiness and exceptional polish.” Robert Parker called it a “beauty,” with “terrific purity,” ladling on 91-94 points, and the WineAccess membership gave the 2012 a 4.4 star rating after gobbling up every bottle we could pry loose.

Gleaming, opaque purple to the rim, the 2012 is infused with savory aromas of ultra-juicy dark-red berries, mint, tobacco, and graphite. Terrifically concentrated, plush, and dense, featuring gobs of blackberry and mountain blueberry preserves and blackcurrant. Velvet in texture. Finishing with sufficient backbone and muscle to argue powerfully for one to two decades of cellar slumber.

The 2013 Estate Reserve is equally monumental, awarded 4.5 stars by the WineAccess membership and 94 points by Galloni, who called it “impressive” and “a great showing.” The Andersons consider the 2013 to be the greatest vintage in the history of the blue-chip estate, and they’ll get no argument from us.

Glistening purple-black, showing tantalizing aromas of blackberry, mountain blueberry, mint, tobacco, and graphite. Massively concentrated, even more than the blockbuster 2012. Dense and tightly wound, loaded with crushed-black-fruit preserves doused with crème de cassis. Finishing with the sensational backbone that so distinguishes the 2013 vintage, and arguing for 15-25 years of cellar slumber.

Could we go on? Certainly. Should we? Not when things are this simple. A pair of the highest-rated Cabernet Sauvignons in WineAccess HISTORY are now available … in magnums. If you think twice, you’ll be left in the cold. Do NOT delay.
