Make it the "Easiest time of the year!"
“Easiest time of the year!” Have you ever heard that phrase applied to the holidays? Sure, it’s the “most wonderful time of the year,” but easiest? Not until today.
We put together a 6-bottle all reds set we’re calling "Holiday Magic” because this is a collection that transforms an evening with no wine pairings instantly into a night of deliciously-paired glasses of Pinot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet: two bottles each of three dynamic reds, offered at a celebratory 15% off, to make your holidays the easiest time of the year. Presto.
Included in this Set:
2016 Bernardus Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir x2
Bernardus stands toe-to-toe with the full-throttle Pinots of Kosta Browne, ROAR, and Siduri. But when it comes to value, nothing tops Dean DeKorth’s bottlings. Explosive ripe cherry and red berry aromas mingle with juicy red fruits, baking spices, and subtle blood orange notes tinged with toasty oak notes. Pairing suggestions: whole-roasted chicken, coq au vin, braised beef short ribs, thick-cut pork chops, and hearty fish dishes.
2015 Castellani Tenuta di Burchino Genius Loci x2
This electrifying Sangiovese hails from Piergiorgio Castellani’s Burchino estate, high in the fossil-rich Pisan hills just inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Castellani has become a Tuscan superstar, declared by Wine Enthusiast to be “jockeying for a position as one of the top producers of Italy.” Fresh notes of wild raspberry and morello cherry on the nose, with hints of sage, baking spice, and cured meats. Laser focused palate, with medium body and crisp acid, giving flavors of strawberry, cherry, and dried herbs a refreshingly clean finish. Pairing suggestions: red meat and pasta.
2014 Karo-Kann Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Block 12 x2
In 2014, we got a call about fruit from Block 12 in a vineyard on Atlas Peak where yields were so low and labor costs to farm the vineyard so high, that it became uneconomical to grow grapes. Block 12’s last harvest produced an extravagant black-fruited, spice-tinged elixir, powerful and opulent enough to compare to the vineyard owner’s $150 single-vineyard Cab. Deep, dark crimson in color, bursting with crushed dark-fruit aromatics—black cherries and black plums—laced with sandalwood, tobacco and sweet vanilla-oak spice. Rich, expansive and bold on the attack, full-bodied with layers of blackberry preserves, dark cherry, cola, and new-wood cedar. Powerful yet elegant, ripe, showing all the rich opulence of the 2014 vintage, and bracketed by bold, rustic mountain tannins. Pairing suggestions: Blue-cheese burgers, chicken in mole sauce, steak au poivre with Bordelaise sauce.
