    Four Generations of Farming Obsession

Laurent Lequart is a fourth-generation winemaker obsessed with his land and his grapes. He runs a family-owned estate in the village of Passy-Grigny, in the heart of the Marne Valley, and produces some absolutely stunning bubbles. Most are snapped up by restaurants and private collectors in Europe.

The estate contains barely 10 hectares of vineyards, situated on a small variety of soils and exposures, but they all have one thing in common: a commitment to biodiversity and sustainability in the fields. Lequart holds both HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (a Champagne sustainability standard) certifications for their standards in the vineyard.

The Vallée de la Marne sweeps from west to east, north of the Côte des Blancs and south of Montagne de Reims. This is Pinot country, with plenty of clay in the soils of Lequart’s vineyards—mixed with either sand or limestone, depending on the plot—suiting Meunier, especially.

The Blanche d’Andesyne Rosé is an Extra Brut Champagne, meaning it’s given a very low dosage at disgorgement—only 2.5 grams of sugar per liter—so that the rich fruit typical of Meunier is balanced out by a crisp finish.

It’s blended from 80% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, and aged for at least three years on the lees, giving it a fine and persistent mousse. The nose reveals aromas of creamy red berries, fresh pastry, and floral notes. The palate is broader than the nose suggests, with flavors of baked plums and brioche, balanced by a refreshing acidity and a mineral finish. Just a beautiful bottle of Rosé Champagne.
