Reserve Port Blended by the Dream Team
The Broadbent Auction Reserve Port should come with a warning: It’s the bottle that’s turning red-wine lovers into Port fanatics.
Upon its release back in 2009, it transformed Port’s modern reputation by delivering all the nuance and complexity of expensive vintage-dated bottles with the value price of ruby and tawny bottlings. It's decadent right now and will age gracefully for another decade.
The team behind this wine has spared no expense or effort in crafting this magnificent bottling: All the grapes in this stunning multi-vintage blend were crushed by foot, then fermented in shallow tanks that are among the best—and often most expensive.
It was crafted in honor of the late, legendary wine importer Michael Broadbent, who organized the world’s first wine auction in 1966. His legacy lives on in every bottle of this small-production Port. Bartholomew Broadbent, Michael’s son and a world-renowned importer in his own right, enlisted the help of a winemaking dream team to create ths wine: Dirk Niepoort serves as winemaker, and Nick Delaforce, of Delaforce Port, works as technical director.
Each of this wine's vintages would have made a magnificent Port on its own. By bringing them together the way they have, Broadbent has crafted a decadent, ageworthy fortified wine that’s even better than any one of those vintages would be alone.
A classically styled, sweet red, this is a port must-have for any wine lover, and the rare classic that is easy on the wallet.
