In the spring of 2012, we hatched an idea called “WineAccess Experiences” designed to treat our membership to private tastings and tours in Napa Valley. At the time, we had no idea how many of you would take us up on these offers. But it wouldn’t be long before we realized we’d struck a chord.
Hosting wineries reported that 5% of those who received invitations took full advantage. More interestingly, we also learned, many of those who visited the valley joined winery clubs — and subsequently dropped a bundle on Library wines.
Last month, as we began mapping out experiences for 2016, we ran some numbers on what we imagined hosting winery profits to be over the course of two years from purchases made by those ushered to their cellar door. Based on that analysis, we decided it was appropriate to ask our partners to sweeten the pot.
Our first call went to Round Pond Estate.
