About Toro
Toro Facts
Toro is in northwest Spain, less than 50 miles from the Portuguese border, on the banks of the Duero River (which becomes the Douro in Portugal). Tempranillo (called Tinto de Toro here) dominates but there are also scattered plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot Toro wines.
Characteristics of Toro wines
Toro wines are powerful and high in alcohol, often with a distinctly roasted, meaty character.
