About Capannelle
Capannelle Facts
From its start in 1974, Capannelle has been one of the most forward-thinking operations in Chianti, yet the wines are among the most traditional and true to their terroir.
Varietals Produced at Capannelle
Sixteen sunny hectares in Gaiole produce the fruit for most, but not all of the wines. The 50 & 50 (a Sangiovese-Merlot blend) is a joint venture with Montepulciano's Avignonesi estate, which supplies the Merlot. Other bottlings include the Chianti Classico Riserva, a blend of Sangiovese, Colorino and Canaiolo, and a Chardonnay, which splits time aging in Allier barriques and steel vats. All wines here get an extended period of bottle aging before they make their way to the marketplace.
