About Landmark Vineyards
Founded by a scion of the John Deere family, Landmark moved to its current spot in the Sonoma Valley in 1989. Since then they've been making consistently rich, complex Chardonnays that are underpriced for their quality. Winemaker Greg Stach also makes a fine Pinot Noir and is showing steady improvement with Syrah. The 11 acre estate vineyard is planted to Rhone varieties, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Counoise, and Viognier, while Chardonnay is sourced from growers in Sonoma County. The key here, as with so many top wines, is limiting manipulation in the cellars. Stach succeeds admirably.
