Until the late 1950s, Domaine Matrot was a mixed used family farm in Meursault. Today it is a well respected winery with 19 hectares of vineyards in Meursault, Volnay, Puligny, Auxey Duresses and Monthelie. Pascale Thierry Matrot and his wife run the estate, focusing primarily on Chardonnay. Matrot prefers to tailor his approach to the vintage and vineyard, aiming for diverse bottlings rather than an overarching aesthetic. If there is a stylistic trademark, however, it is the trend toward understatement and away from new oak that is being seen more and more often these days in Burgundy.
