2022 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 750 ml

Quality has been the essence of Silver Oak for over half a century, and the Alexander Valley Cabernet is one of the clearest expressions of that pursuit.

Silver Oak achieves its remarkable consistency through an unmatched obsession with delivering top-tier wine. When we spoke with Silver Oak’s Matt Duncan about that consistency, he pointed to the wines that have long inspired his family: “You don’t think about the vintage with the great estates of France, and that’s the reputation we’ve aimed for.”

That drive shows in the estate’s Alexander Valley winemaking facility, which turned out its first vintage in 2017. It’s rare for an established winery to build a cellar dedicated to a single wine, but Silver Oak did exactly that—a winery built entirely for their Alexander Valley Cabernet. Not a drop of another wine has ever been made inside.

The facility earned not just LEED Platinum certification but became the first winery and the largest structure to earn the Living Building Challenge certification. Among its many features is a far-sighted water recycling system, which collects water used in the winery, purifies it through a membrane reactor, and returns it for the team to use again.

That system is more than an environmental milestone: it freed up two acres that would otherwise have gone to a drain field—two acres of prime Alexander Valley land now planted to Cabernet Sauvignon.

Alexander Valley itself is one of California’s benchmark homes for Cabernet, where warm days and cool, fog-touched nights let the fruit ripen slowly while holding on to freshness—terroir suited to wines of both depth and polish.

In 2022, a warm growing season capped by a late-season burst of heat—kept in check by the valley’s fog and marine breezes—gave this bottling a richer, more decadent character, without giving up the polish and freshness that define the estate.

The result is a Cabernet that rewards both the dinner table and the cellar—generous and refined, and unmistakably Silver Oak.
