Legendary Focus and Drive—On and Off the Track
Danica Patrick is a serial winner—a competition addict who has achieved greatness through dedication and a single-minded obsession with being the best. Once she retired from the racetrack, wine took over that focus, so she sought out the best to make her wines.
That naturally led her to Julien Fayard.
On this side of the Atlantic, Julien Fayard is known for 100-point Cabs. In France, however, the Fayard name means rosé. Spectacular rosé. Julien’s family has helmed Château Sainte Marguerite for the past five decades, crafting Cru Classé wines from their idyllic outpost in Provence. And despite the fact that Julien decamped to Napa Valley to conquer the Cabernet world, he’s got rosé DNA, through and through.
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure to spend a lazy evening drinking with Julien at Maison Fayard, his new tasting room—and informal winemaker clubhouse—in Napa. The result of that encounter was an allocation of his Just Pink rosé, one of the most popular pink bottles we’ve ever offered.
The next time we saw Julien, he did something remarkably unselfish: He pointed us to Danica Patrick’s 2024 Elegance rosé. It was a fantastic wine, drinking perfectly and showing off the prestigious Côtes de Provence AOC—one of the finest in the world of rosé.
For the 2024 Danica Elegance, Julien turned to a classic Provençal blend of 40% Cinsault, known for its elegance and zest; 35% Grenache, which provides beautiful fruity aromatics and minerality; and 25% Syrah, which drives the fruit forward. Aged in stainless steel tanks to maximize freshness and verve, it’s a beautiful wine that will partner a wide variety of food throughout the golden autumn and remind you of summer when the weather turns cold.
