    The Gamble Paid Off Big-Time

Back in 2019, we took a huge chance on a Champagne producer all but unheard of in this country, but known in the region for supplying grapes to some of its most famous names. When we sampled their wines, they struck us as bona fide diamonds in the rough—hands-down some of the best Champagne values we’d tasted.

We committed to becoming Brugnon’s sole importer and bought several pallets on the spot. Bringing a new brand to the US is tough and success was far from assured—but we knew what we had, and we were willing to bet Wine Access members would see the incredible value that Brugnon offered.

Today, M. Brugnon’s Sélection Brut is our #1-selling Champagne—it’s not even close—and it has racked up some stunning reviews:

“Simply the best deal on a Champagne that easily is worth twice as much,” wrote one member. Another said, “This Champagne is amazing—if you served it in a blind tasting, it would beat most of the NVs on any high-end store’s shelf.”

Champagne Brugnon was founded in 1947 by Maurice Brugnon, and now four generations of the family have crafted beautiful Champagne from their perch in the Premier Cru village of Ecueil. This grower-Champagne house is now run by Alain Brugnon, who blends Premier Cru vineyard sites into exquisite Champagnes adored for their combination of finesse, elegance, and verve.

It’s also what our friends in the wine business—buyers for wine shops and sommeliers at MICHELIN-rated restaurants—constantly hound us to share with them. Teeming with mouthwatering acidity, spiced pear, toasted nuts, and a lingering minerality on the palate, it’s a truly one-of-a-kind Champagne. Taste it and understand why it’s #1.
