NV Prosper Maufoux Cremant de Bourgogne Blanc Brut Originel 750 ml

Some bottles just have that je ne sais quoi—something we’ll call big “one more glass” energy—and Prosper Maufoux’s Crémant de Bourgogne has it in spades.

Prosper Maufoux is helmed by the legendary Nadine Gublin, the first woman to win the coveted Winemaker of the Year title from La Revue du Vin de France. They regularly flex their “serious” chops with incredible red and white Burgundy values that have thrilled our members—and have a fleet of four- and five-star reviews to back it up. 

And their bubbles? Non-stop delicious.

Made in the Champenoise method, this Crémant de Bourgogne comprises the traditional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, plus a splash of party-guy Gamay. The result is a wine that’s its own inspiration to open another bottle. Refreshing and vibrant, our VP of Wine Eduardo Dingler called its mousse “sassy” and praised its blend of apricot, lemon, and citrus blossom flavors. 

Prosper Maufoux was founded in 1860 in the white-wine haven of Saint-Aubin, and the intervening generations have allowed them to develop connections to some of the best—and most under-the-radar—terroirs in Burgundy.

We visited on our last trip to Burgundy, and in their chilly cave in February, the wines were absolutely singing, from the Vignes au Roy Rouge to the Premier Cru Saint-Aubins. But with every pour, we kept thinking about the Crémant they poured us as a welcome glass. It was an amazing respite from the dreary weather outside, and with its bold fruit flavors and bright finish, we could immediately envision polishing off the rest of the bottle.
