Just had this, from a half bottle -- which was brought by the way by a wine lover who had purchased it for... just under $9 way back when -- which was tasting very nicely. Far better than another reviewer who compared it to a 10 year old Tawny. Not sure what that was all about, because the 1977 Dow vintage port was intense and flavorful. A very nice port indeed. Wish it were less expensive today...
Light color ruby red with a taste too much alcohol. Semi-sweet. Not impressive.
My friends and I have drunk a lot of good port. And, unfortunately, **this bottle didn't contain the right wine**. In fact, I purchased a bottle of '77 Dow's on Nov. 4, 2000 so the taste was fresh in my mind. I looked forward to sharing that taste with my friends on Nov. 20, 2000. We were hugely disappointed. Fortunately, I had an '83 Grahams as a backup.
