Intensely rich and layered wine. As the wine was kept open, more of these layers opened up. Powerful wine with forward french oak and tannins that should be aged for at least 8-10 years before a second shot. Still, a beautiful wine with nutty, vanilla nose and raspberry as the wine opened. Full mouth feel with notes of black currant, black peppar and green bell peppers. Well balanced, long finish!
The wine is bright in colour with a clear red ruby core and a soft purple, watery rim. The viscosity is very long, and shows some good alcohol level. The nose is clean, and intense with a mild fruit fragrance (cassis). The wine has just a touch of herbs and white pepper, with a soft earthy quality on the finish. On the palate, the wine is balanced with soft fruits and tannins. It has a medium length, and medium to high alcohol. The acidity is soft, a good balance between fruit and tannins. This is a very balanced wine, a great Margaux.
This ruby-hued gem begins with a nutty aroma and forward tannins. After the first sips, fruity layers of cherry and currant unfold with a subtle undercurrent of green pepper. The finish is delightfully tinged with caramel and lingers on the tongue. Despite its relative youth, this incredibly balanced Margaux is a guaranteed classic.
I liked it.
I don't like bordeaux. You get so much better Value from the Rhone. Better wine too.
