This is one exquisite chanpagne. The softness, the fruit and the minerality blended together for a complex wine taste experience. The finish was so long that you could savor this forever.
This would be it. One of the best. Lighter, more elegant than Bolly Grande Annee. I would put certain year Jacquesson Degorgement Tardif above it but without 15 years on the lees, the Grande Dame is extraordinary.
Only the most impressive, delightful champagne I've ever had. The almond, bread and mushroom notes on the nose are so enticing, and the flavors of the wine just fill your mouth effortlessly without exploding or overwhelming. I love the minerally structure that holds it all together, and the way the character of the pinot noir comes out as the wine breathes and warms in the glass.
To date (early 2005), this is the best champagne I've ever had. Rich, golden color. The taste defies description as toasty or citrusy, but there are hints of each. It is silky smooth, with an incredibly long finish. I wish I'd bought a whole case, not just three bottles!
This would still be my all time favorite Champagne
