9/28/06 -- This was double-decanted for 2 hours. Medium-deep ruby-plum color. The nose is gorgeous and full of deep blackberries, beef blood, herbes de Provence, roasted plums, cocoa-dusted black cherries, a touch of forest floor, earth and mushrooms. On the palate this is a massive, super-ripe wine loaded with gobs of old-vine Grenache fruit. It is chewy and almost glycerin-laden in texture with massive quantities of ripe tannins and structure and a subtle mustiness that only adds to the explosive complexity. Already a great wine, I can only imagine what this will be like when it is better integrated.
