The '01 Clos Erasmus is a blend of Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon. I found the aromatics rather muted at the moment and the nose is a bit on the warm side. I did, however, note plenty of fruit and a touch of cocoa. In the mouth the wine is very concentrated with strong fruit, graphite and balsamic. The wine has both impressive extract and firmness, and no doubt is built to last. If you manage to get your hands on this, I would urge you to wait before opening it and bide your time with the great value second wine from Daphne Glorian - "Laurel." (I ordered my Erasmus at a restaurant and so had no choice but to satisfy my curiosity.)
