WS90/Parker 94. A little tight at first. Then....wow..with Shrip Dijon. Good until 2014.
This was for me an eminently classy, articulate wine. A tightly-woven nose, where a complex array of mineral notes interplays with toasted almond and white flowers, all brightened and brought together by a dash of lemon zest. On the palate, this wine returns again to the mineral, cirtus, and floral themes, showcasing a very rich mouthfeel with a texture that is at once somehow unctuous and slatey. The finish is seamless, and extremely long, and I was impressed that the wine was so dry and yet so ample. I want to use words like spherical or complete to describe this wine, yet it longs to be served with the proper cuisine. I'd suggest a filet of fish with beurre blanc, or perhaps just a simple pairing of firm cheese- something with a light texture and creamy flavor, like Montalban.
sauteed mushrooms, minerals, and a hint of butter.
A very well made wine, Parker gave it a 94. I loved it; chenin blanc from the Loire valley, so probably not for everyone. If you want something interesting and different, this is worth a fling.
