This wine is oozing potential. Needs a little more time to integrate to perfection. The oak is still a bit forward but with an hour decant and a wood grilled steak this will pair to perfection. A little more fruit forward than the 2011 LeMartine which is drinking fantastic right now.
Gentle up front, a wonderful explosion, then a long finish.
This was excellent wine
very earthy and what I expect from a Tuscan wine. I tried this first a few weeks ago and then the '04. I was a bit disappointed with the '04. I only aerated this wine and it was fantastic. The '04 I also aerated but I felt that it improved (the 04) after a few days of being exposed to air.
04/2016 This is just sour wine period. If 10 yrs wont soften it, its just too damn sour.
more time? more air?? not as nice as we may have liked!
I tasted this wine just after release and while it showed some brettanomyces character, it was in balance. We tried a bottle last night, though, and the character was quite pronounced, too much for the group. Really nice fruit underneath but hard to get past the leather and wool.
We forced ourselves past the corked nose to taste.... It was badly corked..... down the drain......
Astringent and acidic. Fruit has faded. Tough wine to drink now.
