I gave a bottle to my parents as a gift late last year, and they opened it up last week and brought the leftovers to our house. A heavy-hitting wine. One definitely senses the alcohol (>15%) overlaying a taste of chocolate and blackberry. Even though opened a day prior, it was still opening up. The initial harshness lessened after an hour in the glass, and a balance between the alcohol, fruit and tannin became evident. Still, this was opened way too early, so I won't touch the two bottles I have left for at least 3-4 years when it should be outstanding.
This is a very rounded Cabernet, unusually smooth for its kind. Quite balanced and fruity. Expected a bit more personality from a wine in this league.
Very luscious wine. Needs time to open up.
The Kenward Cabernet is an excellent example of why Napa wines continue to lead all the California AVAs in deep black fruit combined with a light touch of oak. This wine is balanced, yet complex enough to generate a new series of flavors every 15 minutes. A superb wine!
Had this at a Greek Rest. the other night. Really good and worth the excellent price I picked it up for at WineAccess.
excellent rich cabernet
