4.5 stars. Beautiful cab.
I ordered 6 bottles, and drank all 6 because it taste great and goes well with steaks. I took my final 2 to Morton and after we finished them we ordered 2 2011 Faust and it was no competition to Round Pond, I can't believe the Faust is from Rutherford. As soon as the 2 Round Pond bottles were poured into the decanters, the wine was like a perfume, it has a good nose. Smooth and soft dusty finish.
This was a very perplexing wine. It was great on the palate but the nose was virtually non existent. It was a very strange disconnect. Like any wine lover, I like to get a great huff of something before I sip the wine. I don't think even time in the cellar will enhance the nose. Oh well, it was still great on the palate and enjoyable to drink.
We opened this wine - and found it good immediately - it did not opening up time. But we found it light compared to our expectation of a heavy Napa Cab. We will enjoy but we did hope for a bit more
I was very anxious to sample this wine based on the stellar reviews and comments posted by the "experts". Yes, the color is beautiful; however; there were no aromas emanating from the bottle or decanter. The taste was borderline "bad" and the finish was non-existent. It appears this wine will need several years to mature and I feel betrayed by the 94 point reference since my tasting was so far from this number and wouldn't even warrant anything but poor. Disappointed to say the least.
Opaque, black cherry bouquet, good acidity and tannic structure. Delicious! 5 stars!
