Much better than the '10, owing no little feat to the significant ratcheting up of the Roussanne addition. Deep golden-barley hue. Nose is dominated by smokey and salty tones and calcic-dusted green fruit - made me think of a cooler, windswept marine shoreline, like if apples were grown on the shoes of Islay, cut, and tumbled with fresh honeycomb. Despite massive richness, the cuvee is well braced by the accompaniment varietals, despite their small additions. Acidity is not bogged down by the broad Roussanne or rich Chardonnay; the SauvBlanc must offer enough shoring, plus getting some Viognier elegance. It just plain works and holds the finish, lingering on. This drinks well beyond the price offered to us, but thankfully so - glad I acquired a case. This is certainly my favorite white at the moment. This one will hand in bottle for years. 50/5/12/9/8/8
I'm not a big white wine fan, but I am a big Stolpman fan so when I saw that WA was releasing a Chardonnay from Stolpman, I jumped on it. Very nice wine and went well with chicken. I enjoyed it so much, I may be changing my attitude about white wine...
What a white wine should be
Very disappointing. Nothing special at all.
