Wonderfully savory and rich Syrah, plus texture and its got the bones for aging. Just flat-out great.
Never before had I encountered anything so floral and fresh fashioned by Sashi Moorman. While the concentration takes a dip, and the tannin structure is weakened (in comparison with the 2009 and 2010 Stolpman Syrah vintages), a totally new feature emerges: sensory immediacy.
OMG! This is one of those accidental findings of a lifetime.....forgot to re-cork the bottle the other night, left the finer in it but of course air got to it for 24 hours until I poured the last of it into my glass for dinner. Was a bit worried what I might get but low and behold, it's a big, smooth winner! NOW, I know to let this sit open for a day before drinking....why didn't anyone tell us this? Not giving any of this rest of the case away now.
Just had it at Cafe Boulud in NYC. Better than a Bordeaux that I was offered. Perfect with my lamb shank dinner.
This has been sitting in my cellar for over a year and I finally decided to uncork one. The wine is just beautiful. I think the Tanzer review is right on, except I can't vouch for the Cote Rotie similarity; I just don't have enough experience with Old World Syrah to speak to that. But, the wine is floral, fruity and earthy at the same time. Lovely! Absolutely no rough edges here, and wonderful over about four hours or a bit more. 4.5 stars. This time, just the wine, next time, lamb. Really nice wine! Thank you Sashi Moorman!
Rich fruit, almost velvety in texture. Not super long but an extremly enjoybale pour.
Very reliable quality year over year
Would not buy again
Definitely a 4+ rating. Very interesting pour.
