Can’t Miss Sauvignon Blanc from Food & Wine Winemaker of the Year

    Can’t Miss Sauvignon Blanc

There’s a reason that the lush and herbaceous 2015 Kerr Sauvignon Blanc rarely sees a retail shelf: Because most of its tiny production (just 386 cases) is snapped up by sommeliers who know a can’t-miss Sauvignon Blanc from aroma alone, and Kerr checks every box on a wine lover’s list.

That it’s made by Wine Access favorite and Food & Wine Winemaker of the Year Helen Keplinger (Bryant Family, Keplinger Wines) is only part of the draw. The Kerr pairs beautifully with tough-to-match foods, and will thrill just about every white wine drinker, from lovers of Bordeaux-style whites to those looking for a crisp, clean summer sipper.

It didn’t take long for Helen Keplinger to make waves after vintner Cristie Kerr—an accomplished former LPGA golfer with two major victories under her belt—chose the Food & Wine magazine Winemaker of the Year to lead her new project. Robert Parker called Kerr Cellars “impressive” after tasting through the very first vintage, and by the time the third bottling rolled around, Parker himself had bestowed a 96-100-point score on Kerr. Just this past fall, Wine Spectator characterized Kerr wines as “world-class.”

Keplinger ferments the Sauvignon Blanc in French oak barrels, 10% of which are new, and adds further richness by adding some Sémillon to the blend. The result is a crisp yet creamy Bordeaux-style white that shows tons of tree fruit, herbs, and crushed stone. The best part is that, whether you’re into pedigree or just pure pleasure, Kerr can’t miss.

For what you might have paid For what you’d pay for for a glass and a half at the watering holes pouring this creamy, floral white, you can take home a bottle of this infinitely pleasing 2015 Kerr Sauvignon Blanc. And for the price of dinner, you can take home a case. The choice is yours: Go out for the night, or stock up for the fall.
