    California’s Epicenter of Chenin Quality

Lush, aromatic, and exceedingly food-friendly, Chenin Blanc might just be California’s next standout white grape, and Clarksburg is the heart of its renaissance. So that’s exactly where La Pitchoune—whose wines have been poured at MICHELIN three-star destinations The French Laundry and SingleThread—made a beeline to get the fruit for La Bombe.

On the banks of the Sacramento River delta, Clarksburg boasts a trifecta that winemakers often seek but rarely find: old vines, abundant sunshine, and cooling river breezes. Together, these conditions help produce ripe, balanced, effusive white wines.

Chenin Blanc’s potential long went unnoticed in California, but when given the right terroir and attention to detail in the cellar, New World expressions of it can be every bit as vivacious and food-friendly as their Loire counterparts.

Sourced entirely from family-run Wilson Farms in the heart of the Clarksburg AVA, La Bombe shows how much freshness and complexity New World Chenin can achieve. Lime-zest and lychee aromas rise with flourishes of beeswax and spice, while a sip reveals green apple, citrus, and a welcoming jolt of acidity. Aged in large, 100% French oak puncheons, all the wine’s intricate flavors mingle enticingly within the framework of its vibrant fruit profile.

This Chenin’s wonderful balance shows why Sonoma Magazine called La Pitchoune “one of the most coveted producers in Sonoma County.” But it’s not just quality that’s responsible for the high demand for their bottles: It’s also their commitment to minuscule production. Their wines—each crafted from renowned vineyard sites—rarely show up on the open market.

We’re thrilled to put this one in your hands. It’s bright, energetic, and endlessly versatile at the dinner table.
