We were going to get deep into the details of how we discovered this excellent bubbly, but we scrapped them because all they do is distract from this one fact: The Imaginarium Blanc de Blancs is dollar-for-dollar one of the best deals in French sparkling wine.
Crafted in the Champagne method and boasting outstanding complexity after more than a year on the lees, this is the kind of bubbly we like to have on hand for just about any occasion. Friend drops by. Impulsive takeout dinner. Long phone call. The list goes on.
Praised as “elegant, fresh, zippy and invigorating” by the Wine Advocate’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown, this is an almost incomprehensible steal for a wine produced by one of the leaders in sparkling wine from Burgundy. Louis Bouillot has been crafting some of the best bubbly outside of Champagne for over 130 years. From their entry-level cuvées to the top bottlings, everything Bouillot produces is worthy of the reputation they’ve built over the centuries. Their wines have been called “complex” and “finely balanced” by Wine Enthusiast, and “elegant, fresh and bright” by James Suckling.
